And you decided to take your business online and you are ready to think about how you would like your corporate image and logo. There are many things to think about before getting down to work with this task: What type of business do you have? What products or services do you sell? Who are they for? What image you want to convey?
In this post we will give you six+ ideas to design a logo for your company. We are confident that you will achieve inspiration and decide how you want to be the corporate image of your new business.
6 Ideas to design a logo
1. Use double visual sense
Some of the most original logos use a technique of double visual sense in which two images overlap to form a single concept or idea. This is the case of Wine Place, where we can see a thumbtack suggesting the idea of location or place and at the same time we also see a wine glass upside down showing what we can find there.
Another example can also be found in Spartan Golf Club. In this logo the movement of a man hitting a golf ball also becomes the profile of a Spartan soldier.
Think of the concepts that you would like to convey with your logo and talk about it over with your designer so that the latter can translate into a memorable design.
2. Give importance to color
One of the most important considerations in designing a good logo is the choice of the color palette. As mentioned several times, each color has its meaning and has the ability to convey the same message differently.
That said, remember that a good logo should also be versatile and still function in a grayscale version.
Always keep in mind the different materials that you will want to include in your logo, because depending on the color you choose will be seen differently in a printed document in a cap.
3. Avoid fads
Each year new fashions and trends appear graphic design, but if you want to stand out from the rest of your competitors you should follow. Try your designer to create a logo timeless as possible, to forward the personality of your company, you connect with your audience and be recognizable. The flat and minimalist design is always a good idea.
No matter how you look timeless design your logo today, probably have to make some changes over the years. But this does not have to be a negative, best known companies worldwide have been doing for years to adapt to new times and offer a fresh, new look.
4. Create your own font
There is nothing more unique and original than a logo based on a custom font. Typefaces can be the perfect base to design a logo that reflects your brand identity. You only have to choose the font that best suits your type of business and your potential customers. Serif or Sans Serif? Youth, modern and fun or professional and serious?.
Like the colors, the font you choose for your logo will also have the ability to convey a sense or another to your target audience.
5. Think of the negative space
Like the double visual sense, using the negative space intelligently in your logo can be a good idea. This is a type of very creative minimalist design in which the blank design not only provides a break to the eye, it also contains a hidden message. The classic example of this technique can be found in the FedEx logo and arrow camouflaged between “E” and “X”.
A good logo is one that besides transmitting the obvious and primary message, manages to convey a second message drawing blanks within the design.
6. Give a movement
Another interesting issue to consider in the design of logos is the concept of infusing movement or a sense of activity to a logo. This is not always appropriate (for example, the Apple logo), but sometimes can give a design the boost it needs, both from a visual and conceptual point of view.
As an example, let’s look at the Twitter logo. In its first version the bird was perched on a branch passively. Currently the bird has movement as it is flying upward.
